Boston to New York is one of the routes we fly most often, and it is where private flying saves the most time. Instead of Logan security and a LaGuardia taxi line, you leave Hanscom Field in Bedford and land at Teterboro about an hour later, roughly 12 miles from Midtown Manhattan. For a day of meetings, that is the difference between an early start and an overnight.

Same-day round trips

Most New York trips we fly are out and back in a day. The aircraft and crew wait at Teterboro while you are in the city, so your return is ready when your last meeting ends rather than at a fixed departure time. If plans run long, tell us and we'll adjust the schedule within crew duty limits.

Choosing your New York airport

Teterboro (TEB)

The default for Manhattan and northern New Jersey. Teterboro handles private and business aircraft only, with several FBOs and quick car access to Midtown.

Westchester County (HPN)

About 33 miles north of Manhattan. Often the better choice for Greenwich, Stamford and Westchester, and a good alternative when Teterboro is congested.

Republic (FRG)

On Long Island, convenient for Nassau and Suffolk counties and a common stop on the way to the Hamptons.

For more on the city itself, see our New York City destination guide.

Departing from Hanscom Field

Hanscom Field (BED) in Bedford is about 20 minutes from downtown Boston and has none of the terminal lines or ground congestion of Logan. Arrive at the FBO shortly before departure, walk to the aircraft, and leave on your schedule. We keep offices at both Atlantic Aviation and Signature at Hanscom, along with our own hangar and in-house maintenance team, so the people preparing your aircraft work on the same field you depart from.

Booking with the operator, not a middleman

Many charter websites are brokers: they take your request and resell a flight operated by another company. When we fly your trip on one of our aircraft, the certificate, crews, maintenance and dispatch are all ours, and you deal with the same team from quote to landing. If you do book through a broker, it is worth asking who the operating carrier is.

Waltzing Matilda Aviation has flown from Hanscom Field since 2008 and has held its FAA Part 135 air-carrier certificate (No. 6WZA614N) since April 2015. Our operation is ARGUS Gold rated and IS-BAO Stage 2 registered, and we are members of NBAA.
